EBook Formats

All of my eBooks are designed to be readable on all common devices:

  • Computers (desktop, laptop, Apple iPad, and Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc)
  • Cell phones (Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, etc)
  • eReaders (Amazon Kindle, Apple iPad, Amazon Fire, Barnes & Noble Nook, and Kobo)

From this site, you can download my eBooks in one of three formats: PDF, EPUB, and AZW3.

PDF

Almost all devices come with the ability to display PDF (Portable Document Format) files. If yours doesn’t there are many free or inexpensive apps that can be downloaded.

Although universally supported, PDF files do not adapt well to different screen sizes. You can’t change the size of the page. You cannot change the fonts. I would recommend one of the other formats if your device supports it.

EPUB

Most devices can display EPUB (Electronic Publication) files. However, each device is different. It might take some research to determine how to load an EPUB file onto your device.

There are many free eReader programs that run on Windows and MAC. Calibre is very popular but somewhat difficult to learn to use. Barnes & Noble has a free Nook at that runs on Windows. Just be sure to download an authentic eReader that is safe to use.

With EPUB files, you can easily select the font family and font size. The pages automatically adjust to your screen size. It’s easy to access the Table of Contents and most eReaders will allow you to set bookmarks and apply highlighting.

AZW3

AZW is a proprietary e-book file format created by Amazon. It has similar features to EPUB but only runs on Amazon Kindle.
